Sometimes I wonder if anyone sees the world the way I do. We all come at life with a certain perspective. Our family of origin, our experiences, and our personalities all collide to make us unique individuals. Beyond individuality, however, we do find some common ground. I would love to know if anyone walks along this same ground with me… the ground of frugality! So for a little levity today….
1. Do I stink? My family has told me that I have a pretty good sniffer. I am usually the one that first notices a foul or pleasant odor. I really try very hard to make sure that I smell decent, BUT for the life of me I cannot figure out why women spend a lot of money on perfume. I have a travel size bottle of body spray from Bath & Body works. It cost me about $3.00 and will last me at least two months. I usually buy the larger size (economy of scale) and it will last a half of a year. Either way you cut it, I can smell good for about $15 per year. Why on earth would I spend $75 or $100 for an ounce of something that has nothing but a fancier name and bigger marketing campaign?
2. Waste Not, Want Not… I am an avid fan of Curel lotion. It exceeds my budget when you consider the quantities I use, but I usually get a Costco size bundle for Christmas each year. Please tell me that I am not the only one who cuts open lotion or shampoo bottles to get the very last bit out. As I near the end of normal use, you will find a bottle with the top cut off sitting on my counter. Chris would have thrown it away weeks ago… but he patiently waits until I savor every little scoop.
3. One Leg at a Time… Ok, this has nothing to do with saving money, but everything to do with saving time. Does anyone else shave only one leg at a time? Who has time to shave both legs in one shower? I promise they are shaved the majority of the time, but it is only on a warm summer day that I am wearing skirt that they both get the royal treatment at one time.
In a world with so many heavy topics, sometimes it is fun to just laugh at ourselves! If someone landed here from another planet and watched just one woman get ready for her day, they would think we are out of our minds! What are some of your quirky habits or frugal tendencies?
