Back to Blogging

My first blog post was July 13, 2013. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been at this for almost eight years. Early on, I decided I’d take the month of December off and in 2017, we took a two-month sabbatical… and so did my blog. With those two exceptions, I have kept at it. Through the high, low, and average days, you have graciously read my posts. Until April.

What started as a hectic week turned into two months of silence. In those two months, we’ve had our first-born graduate from college, moved him to a new city, begun the post-COVID re-launch of Race for Reconciliation, and worked on a documentary.

I’m sure your life went on, but I’ve missed you and I’ve missed blogging. I’m in the middle of having my website redesigned, so there still may be a week or two of inconsistency, but I’m hoping to keep sending my weekly words your way.

Chris has recently been teaching about the Sabbath and what it truly means to rest, refuel, and worship as we have the privilege to create our favorite day of the week. As I was thinking ahead to what sounded enjoyable to do on my Sabbath, writing came to my mind. I’ve usually viewed my blog as a part of my ministry, but tonight I realized that for something to make my Sabbath list, it must truly be a passion of mine.

So, what’s your passion?

Part of my blogging absence has been survival. The timing of several of my worlds collided and by the time I put the proverbial big rocks in, there wasn’t enough time left to blog. Part of my time has also been spent preparing for Dream Manager – a coaching program to help people bring fulfillment to both their personal and professional goals and dreams.

If there’s anything I’ve always been passionate about and have had doubly reinforced over this last season of my life, it’s that we only get one walk on this earth. Some days, my response to that is, “Thank God! I wasn’t created for this fallen, broken world anyway.” But most days, it truly motivates me to live with intentionality and purpose. I want to be fully present and I want to make a difference. I want that for me, but I honestly want that for everyone.

Dream Manager provides a structure and a way to prioritize being intentional with our lives. As I reflect on the start of Dream Manager, I offer you a few of the questions our participants and I are contemplating…

·      What one relationship would you like to improve?

·      What skill or ability would you like to possess?

·      What’s your dream job?

·      What’s your dream for how you could develop a greater sense of inner peace for yourself?

I encourage you to carve out some time to pray and work on your life, not just live it. There’s nothing better than knowing you’re taking steps toward becoming the best version of you and seeing your short- and long-term dreams and goals that God has created you to fulfill come to fruition.
