Out of Gas
I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you to move beyond the places where we can get stuck in our faith journey. The enemy can’t take away our relationship with the Lord, but he will settle with getting us distracted, discouraged, or detoured. This series of blogs and my current class, Moving Beyond, are designed to help any woman who’s longing for freedom to have the support, tools, and courage she needs to experience victory over her “stuckness.”As my digital class, you need to recognize a very critical ingredient for our victory. In order for any of us to truly move beyond the places we get stuck, we have to think on what’s true. Truth begins in God’s Word and God specifically instructs us to renew our mind. You know this, but let me reiterate that you must have a daily intake of God’s Word in order to renew your mind. Not only do you need His Word to shine light on the places you’re stuck, but being in God’s Word is also the way we keep on moving.[bctt tweet="You must have a daily intake of God’s Word in order to renew your mind."]A few weeks ago, my car died while I was stopped at a light. I was stuck. I had to call a tow truck. It turns out my gas gauge was broken. I was out of gas, but had no idea because the gauge indicated otherwise. What if the tow truck driver added a gallon of gas to my tank and got my car started? Terrific, huh? Yes, unless I ignored his instructions to get to the nearest gas station and make sure I filled my tank all the way up. What if, instead, I just drove it until it ran out of gas again? What if I never went to get the gauge repaired? After such great help to get me on my way, it would be so unnecessary to have the same problem again. You see where this is going?I’m not interested in God helping each of us out of a place we're stuck, only to circle right back and get stuck in the same place a week from now. What about you? I didn’t think so. We don’t just want victory. We want sustained victory.[bctt tweet="We don’t just want victory. We want sustained victory."]As we continue in future blogs, I’ll discuss moving beyond failure, loss, circumstances, and indifference. Yet the most important words you need to read are not from me… they’re from your Heavenly Father. And may I be so bold as to say that you don’t just need to open your Bible to a page and read. Of course, His Word will not return void. Yet knowing how to handle God’s Word and see how He wants to apply His timeless truth to your current reality is life changing. At Highpoint, we call this a priority time. Maybe you call it a devotional time or quiet time. We say priority time because it’s the one priority that should dictate all other priorities in our lives. If you want to be able to grow in understanding God’s Word and how it applies to you, I would love to put some tools in your hands.Get yourself a Bible and a journal and leave a comment below. As we keep moving beyond, I pray that this journey will be what God uses to set you back on a path of experiencing all the joy God created you to experience.
