Day 6: Peace Beyond Christmas

Welcome to Day 6 of the 10 Day Christmas Devotional. If you are engaging with this resource in real time, we are just a few days from celebrating the birth of Jesus. I hope that your time each day where you are engaging in the 4 ingredients of a Priority Time (Focused Thinking, Personal Application, Interactive Prayer, and Life Journaling) are helping you experience these familiar passages in a beautifully unfamiliar way.

Today we step into a different part of the Christmas narrative. We will spend this second half of our time in Matthew’s account of the Christmas story, but let me insert a long term perspective here. This 10 Day journey is intentionally focusing on the biblical Christmas account as the text, but my heart is that as you master the basics of a priority time that you will continue having a priority time long past these 10 days. As you think about where in the Bible you would pick up after Christmas, I would encourage you to always start in chapter one at verse one and methodically go through an entire book of the Bible before switching to another book of the Bible. Personally, I would start in one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) and then rotate back and forth between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

But let’s first see what the Lord wants you to apply to your life today from the words written by Matthew.

DAY 6

1'Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2

FOCUSED THINKING

When does this take place?

What do we learn from the wise men?

Why did the wise men travel to Jerusalem?

PERSONAL APPLICATION

Lord, what do you want me to see about me or You in this account?

Lord, what is one way You want me to prioritize worshipping you today?
